Walker Flanked by Donors at UW Hospital to Promote Foxconn

August 23, 2017

Republican Gov. Scott Walker was flanked by a couple of generous donors when he stopped by UW Hospital on Tuesday to tout the medical technology benefits that a proposed Foxconn manufacturing plant could bring to Wisconsin.

Among those in attendance were University of Wisconsin Medical School Dean Robert Golden, UW Carbone Cancer Center Director Howard Bailey, UW Health Chief Executive Officer Alan Kaplan, and UW-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank.

Campaign finance records show Golden contributed $8,350 to Democratic and Republican legislative and statewide candidates between January 2010 and December 2016, including $4,850 to Democrats and $3,500 to Republicans. The top recipients were $2,000 each to Walker and former Democratic gubernatorial candidates Mary Burke and Tom Barrett.

Bailey’s only contribution was $1,000 to Walker in October 2014.

Kaplan contributed $1,150 to Republican and Democratic candidates, but nothing to Walker, between January 2010 and December 2016.

A review of campaign finance records found no contributions from Blank.
