2014 Election Notes and Background

Republican Governor Scott Walker was first elected to a four-year term as governor in the 2010 general election and survived a June 2012 recall election.

He was unopposed in the primary and faced one Democratic and two Independent opponents in the general election.

($545) made independent expenditures favoring Governor Walker.

Americans for Prosperity (estimated $1.1 million), America's Political Action Committee (estimated $156,000), Faith & Freedom Coalition (estimated $50,000), Wisconsin Homeowner Alliance ($200,000) and Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (estimated $4.5 million) spent undisclosed sums on "issue ads" in support of Governor Walker; Greater Wisconsin Committee (estimated $5.2 million) and NARAL Pro-Choice America (estimated $600,000) in opposition.
